Formalities before the arrival of the ship
The pre-arrival notice will allow the importer or his representative to anticipate the customs clearance formalities by entering the detailed declaration of the goods with the associated stopover number.
The overall formalities’ procedure before customs clearance
is summarized by the following steps:
The shipping agent submits the ship arrival notice possibly containing the list of dangerous goods at least 24 hours before docking and sending to the OMMP.
The OMMP assigns the ship’s port of call number and forwards it to the shipping agent.
The shipping agent sends the electronically signed Advance Manifest (identified by the port call number, customs office code and year of notice) to the customs system via TTN.
Advance Manifest Acceptance.
Upon acceptance by Customs, the Advance Manifest is sent to the OMMP and a copy to the handling contractor.
The handling contractor unloads the ship, communicates to the shipping agent, customs and OMMP: list of goods unloaded at each shift; Possible technical shutdowns; the date and time of the end of unloading operations; and at the end it communicates the differential status.
In view of the lists of unloaded goods and the differential status, the shipping agent shall correct his manifest via TTN at the latest 24 hours after the date of completion of the unloading.
Based on the lists of goods unloaded and provided by the handling contractor, the shipping agent generates and sends the Notices of the arrival of goods via TTN. These notices can, then, be consulted by the end customers on TTN portal.
